Chinese New Year in Owls’ Class

We’ve had lots of fun in Owls’ Class celebrating Chinese New Year. We have found out lots of interesting things about this festival by using drama, music, art and tasting delicious Chinese food! We loved watching the huge dragon dance through the streets and we used a dragon puppet to explore dance and movement. Some of us made Chinese music using the metal drums, steel bells and a beautiful gong which was SO loud! We made our own dragon puppets and created red and gold lanterns. We even had a go at using chopsticks to eat noodles and rice, which was very tricky! We all loved eating the prawn crackers. Some of us made our own lucky red envelopes and we all took home some lucky gold (chocolate) coins. Owls’ class wish everyone a Happy Year of the Rooster.
