Table Cricket Match Report
On the last day of term some of the post 16 students went to Swindon for a table cricket tournament. We took two teams, 13 students in total and 4 teaching assistants. Crowdys Hill School was the venue for this tournament. Other schools that were there included Larkrise School, Marlborough and Rowdeford School.
The journey to Swindon was long, warm and filled with excitement. We even had snow on the way which we all loved the look of.
We had to play 4 games in total and to progress to the next stage we had to win 3 games. Team A first played Larkrise and Team B played Rowdeford School. We both won the first games so we were on track for winning the competition as confidence was high and we were ready for the more games that lay ahead.
Before lunch Team A played Rowdeford School and won again meaning they were first in the competition in the lead going in to the afternoon games. Team B however, had lost the second game, which meant that they had an uphill struggle after lunch to be able to progress.
After lunch Team A played their 3rd game and got to their high score so far of 99 runs. This set them up to win the competition if they won the last game. Meanwhile, Team B played their 3rd game too but, unfortunately, they lost again meaning they would not progress to the next stage of the competition but, they were very happy to have played in the competition anyway.
The A Team played their last game and lost. However, they had enough points to be runners up in the competition and progress onto the regionals that will be held in Exeter, Devon!
Everyone was happy to play in the competition and received a certificate for taking part and now we look forwards to the next challenges that lay ahead at Exeter.
